Whose idea was this?

Mom and Dad took me to visit a dog resort last week. We were just there to look around and make sure it was clean and the other guys were having fun there. I guess it was OK. They had couches and chairs for the other dogs to lay on and lots of things to do outside. The other dogs seemed friendly enough, so I was happy that they had a nice place to lay around and play. I didn’t know that we’d come back two days later for an extended stay.

That was not part of my plan AT. ALL.

I wanted NOTHING to do with the lady that took my leash from Mom when we went back to visit a second time. The lady (who frankly smelled like she’d knocked back a couple) even tried to give me treats, but there was no way I was going to let her even think I liked her. Not even a little bit. When Mom started to leave, I tried really hard to get off my leash to go with her, but she was too fast for me. Mom just left me there.

I’m still not giving mom the satisfaction of knowing how I liked the place. We’re just not talking about it.

I was SO happy when Mom and dad came to pick me up! I was sure that I’d never see them again, and based on their reaction they thought the same thing. I cried and kissed all the way home. I even threw in a couple of happy yodels just to make sure they knew that I was happy to be with them again.

But then? Mom took me straight to the laundry room and gave me a bath with that stupid lavender stuff. She couldn’t just leave it at that, either. She and Dad trimmed my nails afterward. Nice welcome home, Mom and Dad. Gheesh.

The day ended well. We played lots of rounds of tickle fights and fetch.

Today I’m back to being Mom’s co-worker. Being Mom’s co-worker is a really cushy job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
