New friends! Yay!

I made some new friends today at the dog park. Let’s see, there was:

• Checkers: 4 month pit bull (mom said she was going to steal her because she was so cute)
• Midge- 9 month corgi (mom says Midge is bossy)
• Charlie- 5 month poodle mix (he was kind of a baby and cried at EVERYTHING! I need to teach him my “roll on the back and play dead” trick. Works every time.)
• Odie- Not sure and not sure. I had the most fun with Odie because she liked chasing me. I had to hide my tail though because she kept trying to pull it.

Then there was this other dude here that was really RUDE. He was a boxer that liked picking on poor Charlie. I was smart and stayed out of his way.


Later on, my usual pals Nick and Cody dropped in. We don’t really play with each other… I just happen to like their dads. They’re two of the select few that I allow to pet me. It’s become a status symbol at the dog park and people brag when I let them into my ‘inner circle of trust’. Mom calls me aloof, but apparently she hasn’t learned the fine art of being adored.


Here’s the secret- you must make people want to pet you by being cute. Then, just as soon as they go down to pat your head, run off. It’s the best game ever because the new people don’t give up. The ‘inner circle of trust’ people just nod at the new people and then call me over to pet me saying that one day the new people will get their turn.


I hope we have more nice days like this because I sure have fun meeting new pals, even if it does take me a while to warm up to them.
