I don’t like dogs with bad manners

Mom tells me that I have a sixth sense about other dogs, because I instinctively know which dogs to stay away from. I don’t really care about a dog’s breed, but I do care if they have good manners. Yesterday there were two dogs at the park that didn’t know the dog rules, which includes:

1. Don’t jump on me unless I invite you
2. Don’t continue to bother me when I’ve already let you know that I don’t want to play with you.

I watch each dog as they enter the dog park and see how they interact with the ‘official greeters’ (there’s always a group of dogs that immediately run to the gate whenever a new dog enters the park. I’m not one of them.) If I see the new dog has bad manners, then I stay way far away from that dog. If the dog seems to be a good dog, I’ll introduce myself and we’ll take it from there.

If I don’t like a dog, and that dog won’t leave me alone I’ll stand by Mom and give that dog a high-pitched bark anytime it comes near me, and I’ll show that dog my teeth. There’s no mistaking how I feel. This happened yesterday and the other dog would NOT get the hint. I was really glad when his mom took him out of the park, because he was harshing my buzz.

I’ve been at the dog park at least 200 times in my life and I can count on one paw (that’s four toes) the number of dogs that I’ve had this reaction to. Mom knows that I have my reasons and trusts that I know what I’m doing. She’s cool like that.

I will admit to being prejudiced a little bit against long-haired German shepherds. That’s the only breed that I won’t go near, no matter how well behaved they seem (though truthfully, I’ve yet to meet a well behaved long-hair German shepard at my dog park.) Pits? No problem. Boxers? Love them. Great Danes? My favorite. Bernese Mountain Dog? My best friend (his name is Chester, by the way.)

What about you? Do you have certain dog breeds that you don’t like to play with?

My mom loves you and says we should meet. Maybe she can put me in day camp for a day. I don’t seem to be fond of pits. I don’t get aggressive, but I get bad mannered around them. I. Tend to jump on them and mom says that’s a no go especially after seeing how well you behaved at her work.. She’s gotta hold me to the puggle standard now even though I’m a DANE. my favorite dogs to play with are pugs and bostons. Anything small enough to make me feel like a big girl!.. My brother out weighs me by 100 cause I’m only 5 months. My cousin (not by blood of course) is a german shep mix and I like to play rough with him, but I’m not too fond of shepards visiting cause it means all my food is gone when they leave.

We will have to meet one day!

I don’t like dogs with bad manners either, especially ones that keep grabing the extra skin around my neck. I would show my teeth too.
I am prejudiced against some breeds.  Boston Terrior..sorry, don’t like them when they become too pushy.  Pit Bulls…I don’t even sniff their butt. oh I LOVE boxers too.  I get very excited if I spot one in the park.
I like puggles too!

Hi Einstein!  You are right…..some of us did win the doggy lottery! My daddy says that too!
To answer your questions, no my mommy doesn’t stay home, she actually works full time, but daddy is a firefighter so he is home 4 out of 7 days a week! Fostering is really hard….not so much the fostering part, but the letting them go part!  But without foster homes, so many dogs would just be put to sleep!!  Mommy just contacted a local Pug Rescue group here in FL and told them about her love of puggles, and then volunteered to be a foster for them!  Most pug people are pug people and not puggle people….so it works out nice for them that they know we can take the puggles!
Let me know if you start fostering!

Einstein,

you are one cute puggle!  I just wanted to let you know that not all long haired german shepherds are mean.  one of my best friends at the doggie park is a king shepherd!  he is so big and he is only 1!  his mommy said he will grow until hes 3 so i cant imagine how much bigger he will be than me.  he is really sweet with me.  when i was a little younger i used to give him kisses and practically would put my whole head in his mouth.  Everyone laughed at us.  we play together all the time.  i love all doggies.  the bigger the better.  mommy always brings me on the big dog side.  the bigger the better i’m not afraid!  But i must say puggles and boxers are my fav!
